Hey folks,

I'm a noob, and someone stole my Imprezza, so I'm buying a BMW...

I had a look around the site, and couldn't find anyone talking about 'options'. I'm pretty much sold on buying a 318ti, but I still have half an eye open for a 320i or similar...

I am starting this thread in the hope that you can point out the key differences (for a potential buyer) between say the 320i and the 318ti.

- The look 'n feel aspect is obvious.
- The 318ti fits in smaller spaces, and is a little easier to park.
- At motorway (highway) speeds, I imagine the 320i is actually more fuel efficient.
- The 318ti is cheaper, so you get an older 320i for the same money.
- The 320i is a 6 Cylindar, which my educated friends tells me means higher servicing costs.

What else is there to consider?

Here, for your viewing pleasure is my current top pick 318ti and a 320i that I would be tempted to go and look at (4hrs drive away).

I know this isn't a technical difference in the cars, even a very
big one in many peoples eyes, but my girlfriend drives a 318i
4-door, and that thing is BIG!!! I wouldnt like driving the 320i
even if for the simple fact that the thing is big.
I love the quick, sporty feel of the Ti.

go for that one - (have your mech check it if you cant)

after purchasing a 2005 xi for my wife I decided I needed a bimmer for my own SOOO----

I purchased a 95TI about 3 months ago and I LOVE IT - it has 120000 kilos on it an it runs like a dream - you need to be prepared to spend a few more bucks than your usual chev, dodge or ford, (I was sick of that domestic crap anyway) - so far I've only done things to improve the TI, like visual, fluids etc - nothing totally necessary.

I'd certainly have a look at that TI but verify the mechanicals - picture sure looks good

PS - the TI site has been really helpful so far for many question regarding TIs
