Lambo doors for your 318 Ti?

I recently found a website that has lambo door kits for 99-05 BMW 3 series cars. How many of you think the Ti would look great with Lambo doors?

I'm not a big fan, but I think it would look better on a coupe than our cars or sedans. Our full-frame doors would look goofy.

I wouldn’t mess the doors. I would rather have some aluminum doors with Plexiglas sliders. The only real problem I have with my 318TI is the inner workings of the doors. Over the years the windows have popped off the tracks more times than I could count and the door handles have always taken a lot of effort to open. The way I see it is the only good thing about the TI’s doors is that the hinge pins never go bad. I don’t think I would change the one good mechanical attribute that the doors have. :)

I think you'd have to do some serious mod work to get them to work.
Seeing as we have a 4 door design from the A piller forward, and 2 door
from the A pillar back. I may be wrong though, If I had the $ I would do it.

Having actually done a road trip many years ago in a Lambo I would never do tilt up doors. They have many bad traits... Hard to open, block entry and exit, less reliable than 318 window lifts, drip water and road slime on you when you open them in the rain. BTW the Coutache was uncomfortable, hard to drive, hard to shift, and a cold blooded little B***ch to start in the morning. On the other hand we were trucking through MT and the cop only wanted to look at the car. Of course back then it was 25 bucks for anything between 55 and 100... ;)

Glad I had the experience, would I buy one? nope. My 69 911 was as quicker, and wayyyyy more comfortable to drive. (The lambo had more straight line wahoo factor but it was a hanful in the twisties.)

Oh well...(Those were the dayyyyys...)

IMO lambo doors belong on cars w/o "window coping." This is the top part of door that surronds top of window when it is rolled up. i.e. e/36 2 doors look great>just my opinion

If I ever get to do what I want to this car it would involve flip-up doors. The window coping would be taken off as well as the roof lowered. I agree with it not looking right with the window coping.

Suicide doors have to open a bit further to let you out, remember that when you get in your car in a parking lot with someone parked inches from your door.

I just think it's funny that on the first page people were doubting Hugo, but since this thread started, Hugo has since blown his m44 engine up, replaced it, supercharged it, crashed his car into the side of a mountain, fixed and repainted it, purchased new wheels, headlights, suspension, exhaust, sold his DASC, purchased and installed an S52 and who knows what he's up to next. I'm sure it's something along the lines of another F/I setup for the S52. How many of us can say that we've done that much work to our cars?

The supercharger was bought through a group buy that he organized on this forum and then sold to a member on here as well. The S52 was bought earlier this year in San Ysidro, CA and I went with him to pick it up. The SoCal group is a pretty tight little crew, we all share our ideas and help each other work on our projects. My garage has seen a number of Ti's and my wrenches have tightened bolts on all of them.

I didn't even know Hugo when this so called e46 was mentioned, but I have no reason to doubt him. Heck we're always doing crazy sh!t here in Cali, I almost bought an e30 M3 for 6 grand two days ago. I was going to turn it around for about 11k and make a quick profit, but someone snatched it before I could get up to Santa Barbara. I bought a ClubSport on here for dirt cheap and turned it around for a decent profit, I don't see what's so hard to believe that Hugo might have done the same thing. He does work at a dealership.

Hugo goes through cars like myself and many others do. He probably sold it, who knows. That was an entirely different thread, lets not get too far OT, I was just making a point about a particular member's achievement.
