There was a thread on bf.c trying to get a bbk group buy started, so I chimed in and said that I would be interested in purchasing anyones old front brakes. I got a PM that goes as follows:

im thinking of upgrading my brakes. They will be from a 1998 M3 if you are interested. Both calipers were replaced last year and have only 3000K as do the Brembo drilled rotors. Let me know if your interested. Im unsure what they go for so im open to suggestions but no lowballing.

(name removed to protect the innocent  )

Will those work? And how much do you think he's looking to get?

Thanks

M3 brakes will only work if you have the M3 front suspension. The mounting of the M3 calipers on the stock ti suspension is not compatible. You could do a swap of the suspension, but then that's more than you wnated to spend in the first place.

What suspension pieces aren't compatible?

The spindles where the calipers mount. You can't just swap spindles either. The strut/spindle is a whole different unit. If you are looking for bigger brakes, do a search for e36 vented and e46 front brakes, both of which can be put on the ti.

I figured it was the spindles. I'll keep my ear to the ground about 32X brakes. Thanks!

Try finding e46 330i brakes, their bigger than the e36 M3 and bolt right on.

330i brakes require the same stuff, right? As in calipers, rotors, and carriers?

Yeah Calipers, Carriers, rotors, and of course at least 17"rims.
