SCCA just published a proposal to move all 6 cylinder BMWs out of DSP. Not a done deal yet, but it seems to be getting pretty good support. e30s would go to CSP (and get eaten alive by miatas) and e36s and e46s join a pile of other competitive cars in BSP.

But, it makes for some interesting ideas. DSP e36s were extremely competitive due to the engine's good tunability and the ability to fit 285s on all 4 corners of the car. The M42/M44 is down on power compared to a lot of other cars in the class, but the ti could fit immense rubber and still handle quite well...

I saw that as well. That is good news for me since I am currently running in DSP. I think the ti's biggest disadvantage was the huge power deficit.

Definitely. NWIH my ti could make it into DSP again (it's beyond even IT specs) but it's interesting to note. Before the DSP BMW I6 heyday locally I used to run pretty close to a capri, an Integra GSR, and a few WRX's and often win. One other Capri used to be further ahead, but that guy is a serious 20 year nationals veteran with multiple wins.

My mechanic had a beat-up ti in the back that some guy left there; I was thinking about trying to pick it up cheap...just what I need...another one. :o

Anymore news on the Fastrack proposal??? I'm running DSP in my 95 318i, but I'd love to fully build a ti or another 318i/is to tackle the field.

I finally switched to some better Hankook RS2 rubber than the allseasons I've used for 2 yrs and 25+ events, but if it's official I'll start planning/shopping now.
