Hi people, first time poster here.

Today I found a Ti locally, not in the best condition, but what's really good about it is the price. The seller will let it go for $2000 (obo). I just registered and started reading about these cars, but I'll take any feedback I can get.

It's a 5 spd with 130k miles... the catch: it's been beat up. I took pics of the dent on the rear and it's got some minor door dings. I couldn't see/picture the interior because it was dark; will try to schedule a test drive tomorrow.

If I buy it I'll be giving my other car a big break.

Thanks for reading. :)

wait wait wait....you have a GTI! im jealous lol

The car is pretty beat, but if its only cosmetic problems and the rest is in great shape it might be worth giving a shot. Luckily the back panel under the tail light is one piece that isnt hard to replace, if it was just a little more to the right you would be in trouble. Definetly test drive it and check out the interior, let us know how it all workds out.

PS ill take the GTI while you break in the ti =)

Giving you drive a GTI it really dosent matter what the body of this looks like, this would be a project car, :)

EVERYTHING, make sure the engine runs good, tires, brakes, oils, check for leaks, look under the car for issues.

Your best bet would be, taking the car in for a checkup, see what the pros have to say.

also, niki you sure thats a gti, it could be a rabbit

I'm not caring much about the dents and scratches right now, I just want it to be reliable. Maybe later I decide to make a project out of it. I mean for the price it don't get any better than this... I will only offer $1,600 to see the expression of the seller, it's obvious s/he hasn't taken car of that car.

But, the seller lives in a military installation where the speed limit is 30mph, so hopefully there's not a lot of wear on the engine/trans/etc. I'll try to get some daylight pics later and will try to drive it. I really want to be a long-term member of these forums now. =)

And yeah, it's a GTI. 8 months and 24k miles, it definitely needs a break.

I'm pretty sure that you meant "grovel (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=grovel&x=0&y=0)." However, if you really did mean "grobble"... um... I don't know what that means, but it sounds like you should be looking for a very different kind of web site. ;-)

Just about when ready for a test drive, he found another buyer. There's no money in hand yet, but I doubt the buyer will be backing up, specially if he has any love for german engineering.

And I was thinking about upgrades already. :/
