I'm new to ti's...can someone enlighten me as to what I need to replace and where this sensor is located. Any special tools required? Safe to drive until I can get it to my shop (800 miles)?

Thanks

jim

I've researched the forum and found that the Knock sensor 2 is located near the starter. The starter was replaced a week or two ago...is it possible the electrical connection was knocked off in this change causing the code. Could it be something so simple?

I have not picked this car up and will do a PPI when I fly down to see it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Jim

Yes it is possible, but not likely due to the connector style. It could have been unplugged, though. The sensor, connector, or wiring could have been damaged during the starter job as these tend to sieze in the hole and are difficult to get out once removed (had to do 2 back to back and cursed every minute of the first one.) SHOULD be safe to drive, as the computer just preventatively turns back the timing when it throws a knock code to prevent engine damage, but your fuel mileage will suffer.
