Well, this is my first post. I was viewing many past posts to get a better idea about the Ti and what I should look for. This is my 4th BMW, but first non-325. It is also my first stickshift, and I'm still getting used to it. I ended up buying 1997 318Ti (base model), black with tan interior, 51,000 miles, single owner with all records and just recently had the 50,000 mile service... and I paid $6300, which I felt was a great deal due to the low milage. What does everyone else think?

I'm not an expert on prices but in my opinion you got a GREAT deal. We purchased our '98 active package (I think) with 72,000 mi. on it for $10k after taxes from a private dealership. That was about 19 months ago. We currently have 125,000 miles on it and done nothing but maintenance.

Congrats and welcome to the forums!

Nice! I just got mine for $7000 this past Sunday. It has 83,000 miles and it is a 97 model.

Sounds like a good deal. You won't regret the stick shift either.

What state you live in? It's a good deal on the ti. Welcome to the forum. Great place to hang out and learn. :)

I just drove my "new" 1997 318ti with sport package home. I'm in upstate NY and the weather right now is terrible but it was a great 140 mile trip anyway.

can't find a good one around here :(

This lady insists that she must get 6200+ for her 318ti that has 140k miles on it.

California, in the L.A. area... there were 5 different ones I was planning on looking at. The first had the sport package, but it was an auto (with 100k miles) and he wanted $6800, wouldn't even go down a cent. There were three others with miles ranging from 81k-120k, and prices from $5k-$6k, all manual transmission, but I feel like I got the best deal.

Wow nice! I recently bought a 1998 active with 92k miles on it with tan leather from a used dealer for $6300 + tax. Good luck with it and as others have mentioned, the manual is the way to go. Better fuel economy if you drive it right and faster!
