This is my understanding:
Bosal = OEM and not long lasting exhaust.
Stromung = Stainless Steel and awesome sound!

Eberspächer = OE for the 318ti. Not stainless, but fairly durable because it's heavy duty, so many aftermarket exhausts can brag about weighing less than the stock exhaust. . .they will also rust out sooner unless they are stainless steel.

Bosal did have a stainless performance exhaust called BroSpeed, now discontinued for the Ti and probably the Bosal that you've read about on here. Regular Bosal is not poor quality, but it won't last as long as the stock Eberspächer. Neither will Ansa. Bosal has some 'Lifetime Warranty' mojo, but only through installers.

Performance exhausts like Strömung are really in a different category. It's more expensive because it's stainless steel, and it's a 'high-performance' item. Some people don't want a louder exhaust, or they don't want to pay $$$, so when they need an exhaust, they buy OE or a cheaper OE substitute like Bosal.

~$275 for Eberspächer - OE
~$250 for Ansa - OE substitute
~$200 for Bosal - OE substitute

At those prices, the only reason to buy Bosal or Ansa would be that you are planning to sell the car soon, and you don't want spend an extra $75 just so that the next owner's exhaust will last a few years longer. I put a Bosal on my E28 because it was ~$250 and the stock Eberspächer was ~$500. I was happy with the Bosal, but would have bought the Eberspächer if it had been only $75 more.

BavAuto is showing an Ansa 'sport' exhaust for $500, but it doesn't look like stainless. I wouldn't spend $500 on an exhaust that was not stainless steel. I have never used Ansa, so this is just hearsay, but word is that they rust out more quickly than others. YMMV depending on climate. You might not have any rust problems in Florida, but remember that water is one of the main products of the combustion of gasoline + air. Whenever you make a short trip that doesn't fully heat up the exhaust system, water vapor in the exhaust becomes condensation in the cool muffler. If you drive like this a lot, your muffler can rust from the inside out.

So to sum up my opinion. . .
If you want a quiet OE exhaust and you don't want to replace it within ~4 years, buy the OE, Eberspächer.
If you want a 'performance' exhaust, buy SuperSprint, B&B, Strömung, whatever sound floats your boat, but make sure it's stainless steel so your investment will last.

Which Bosal exhaust are you asking about? The BroSpeed one that sold for $160 or the OEM replacement?

If you are talking about the BroSpeed compared to the Stromung, I doubt there is much difference. Free flowing exhaust is all pretty much the same, either it's better than stock or it's not.

I don't care for the way the BroSpeed sounds when it's cold. Not sure why it makes the raspy sound that it does but it goes away as soon as it's warmed up.

The main difference is the cost.

B&B= Billy Boat Exhaust ($$)

Borla doesn't make an exhaust for the 318ti. A few other mfg's. have quit making performance exhausts too - older car, small demand.

Stromung has definitely not discontinued their 318ti system. Two shipped out to my customers just last week. The only "recently" discontinued Stromung system was for the Z3 1.9L about four years ago. Their new Z4M system is coming out shortly though.
