High flow intake mainfold + big bore throttle body, gives 20 extra hp?

Tks!

I've heard on bf.c that it does, but I think probably with a chip it will get you that power. This is only for the m52/s52 though.

Ok viper.

My bmw is a 323 Ti, M52 double vanos 1998.

Do you think only with this mods we can get this 20hp extra?

I´m just already to put a piggyback on my ECU, called unichip. Some BMW´s here in Brazil used this. A 323 get´s extra 23hp only with that. A 328 almost 40hp.

I have an M52 2.8 and have BBTB & M50 intake manifold. The following link shows the differences compared to stock.
http://328compact.co.uk/index.php?section=25

With those modifications I had a very feel-able increase in power over 4000rpm. I took the car for a custom remap and found that with the modification the power had gone up by 27bhp from stock.
With the remap an extra 16bhp, the remap was mostly focused on increasing the mid range torque rather than bhp.

The increase is likely to be bigger on a 2.8 than on the 2.3 as the 2.8 is more restricted by the intake manifold. If you have a look at e36coupe.com (http://www.e36coupe.co.uk/forum/) there is plently of information on 323's.

note: I am using the stock airbox with an M3 snorkel and the engine is single VANOS.

Yes it does work. Apparently the M52 intake manifold runners are very restrictive than the M50. You can actually find M52 intake manifolds on Ebay for less than $50 and not selling. The easiest mod with the best bang for the buck for cars with M52 engines are to install a bone stock M50 intake manifold and I've read results of up to 25-30 hp without any further modifications. With chip and big bore throttle body, you may get more.
Good Luck!

Note an m50 manifold needs a fair bit of modification to fit an M52 engine. Kits such as the one in the link at the start of this thread or the one I got from e36coupe.com are pre modified and ready to fit on.

Just a comment, my 323 Ti has a 2.5 l engine, not a 2.3.

If somobody wants to put something new about these, please, go on.
