Hey guys, my 318ti has been acting funny lately. It makes a sqeeking/whirling sounds on the driverside near the throttle body, and the motor vibrate agressively (whole car is shaking) only at idel. Drives fine on the freeway. Check engine light came on and I checked the code. P0300 = random misfiring (all 4 cyc are misfiring). Anyone know whats wrong with the car?

Thanks

Phil

Try this:
Get the car squeaking and whirring (usually at idle as you said, probably after the car has warmed up). Keeping the car on, pull off the oil cap on the motor. If the sound goes away, it is the crankcase vent valve that has gone bad. I had the same problem, this was the fix.

Also check the rubber flex boot downsteam of the airbox for cracks. You might also want to consider SeaFoaming (http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16181) your engine.

Tonys absolutely right! The DISA unit is located on the left side of the intake manifold by the throttlebody(not to be confused with the ASC valve). I totally forgot, but that was the part that killed the original engine in my car. The PO had the engine replaced under warranty @ 107k. Get it checked out ASAP!
