You lost me. Front bearings on your DIFF are bad? I didn't know the diff had front bearings. If you are referring to the front wheel bearings, then why remove the diff?

there are 2 bearings at the front of the diff for the input flange. its a big job, it includes unloading the diff. i might be doing it myself with the use of borrowed tools.

Nah, it's not that bad. I re-geared both diffs on my Jeep with 4:56 gears and rebuilt my transfercase three times. I had no experience and no real instructions. The haynes manual was absolutely worthless. You'll need a press, a gear puller and some latex paint to mark the gear allignment. The hardest part was shimming the ring and pinion because it's basically trial and error until you get it right. Each time you re-shim you have to pull the bearings, so take it easy on them being careful not to damage anything. If you take it to a shop, try to bring in your own parts and if possible buy a delux rebuild kit with new seals and shims. Tell them not to fill it and fill it yourself with good gear oil. It shouldn't cost much to take it to a shop since you already have it out of the car. I haven't ever taken apart a BMW diff, but you might need a good set of snap ring pliers. Best of luck to ya.
