I'm removing the rear subframe and it looks like the parking brake needs to come out in order to drop the subframe. How do I remove the cable from the trailing arm? I removed the rear brakes, hubs, parking brake assembly and now I just have the cable sitting there. Is the cable supposed to come out with the sleeve? Or how do I remove the cable and sleeve so it's out of the way for subframe dropping.

Thanks in advance,

You need to remove both the big and small nuts from the parking brake inside the car. Then the cable should just pull out. If it doesn't come right out when the parking brake is down, then wiggle it up and down as someone else is pulling on the cable under the car and it should come out.

I need to remove the cable sheath too, the piece that the cable runs inside of.

It all comes out as one piece. I know it looks like the sheath is mounted in there above the driveshaft, but when you take the nuts off and wiggle the parking brake around while pulling on the entire sheath, the whole thing will pull right out.

No problem...it took me a while to figure the thing out too. I think getting the e-brake out caused me to curse more than any other single part of the project. Glad I saved someone else from the frustration
