Hey! Does anyone have a picture of a hellrot ti with OZ superturismo WRC rims? Thinking about someone like that for my ti, but want to see how it looks :)Good luck finding a set. I've been looking for some in 17" 5x120 for several years. Not sure if they even made them in our bolt pattern.

looks like they only came in a 4 bolt pattern (OZ superturismo WRC).
although, i could be mistaken.

Thats the ones i had in mind! Think they would look pretty awesome on a red car, with the red letters. Checking with the store online if they can get them in 5x120.

Hey, sorry for the late response, I haven’t been on the forum for a couple months. The spoiler is an OEM M-tech factory installed option. Last time I checked, it’s no longer available through the BMW parts catalogue, so your best bet is to try and find one used..

Yeah, like Alec said, TC Kline coilovers. Can still go lower (and higher) front and rear.

Here is what mine have. They are style 27 but on the german website that show all the wheels it says for the E36 they were only on an m3. Plus I hadn't seen any other pics with those on it so I thought I had been the only one. Until I saw this thread and the green TI sitting next to Daves looks like it has them to. So I guess are these stock for a TI or a swap from an M3 if anyone knows.

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o209/Caliburnes/wheel2.jpg

But I didn't want a whole side view because she is dirty. And as you can see the wheel emblems are not there because the person who owned it before me didn't like them on there so she ripped the stickers off. Anyone have any wheels emblems they want to part with?

bullmand
04-05-2012, 08:44 PM
Those wheels were stock on the Active package tis. They also were available on most of the other E36 models and a couple Z3 models as well. They were never stock on an M3 and probably wouldn't clear the brakes anyway.

but anyways i did swap my 19s for these 18s and $250 of a 330ci ..

Well I got the csl reps from ebay for 600 or so, i spent 450 on powder and mounting of tires, and i have about 700 in the tires. So i have about 18000 in them. I'm running a bilstein pss9 suspension, so i can adjust, which i'm going to lower another 1/4 in the back and another inch or so in the front. like i said before the pictures def dont do it justice! they look great in real life, i just got the custom gold emblems put on so it looks even better. next step is to tint the windows.

Isn't the ride too harsh with the coils?

Between the poly mounts on the car, the 35 series tires and the coils setup basically for track, yea you could say it rides pretty harsh! Its my nice day cruiser, the rest of the time im either in my truck with airride, or my a6 so thats when i let my back relax!

What is the optimum size and offset to run the widest tires without major body work? Looks are great but the more rubber the better IMO. Also what is that max tire size?

Depends on the amount of negative camber and if you're running coilovers.

With both of those, 17x9 et42 and a 255/40-17 all the way around. You'll probably need a decent spacer up front to clear the strut and a fender roll at each corner.

If you don't want that, 17x8.5 et40 with a 245/40-17 bolts up pretty easily and may or may not need a small spacer up front, no fender roll should be needed.

My first ti had Style 67's on it from the PO- they rubbed and they just made the ride height look funky... and that was with slightly stretched tires (which is dangerous, IMO). It would have been impossible to put lowering springs on it without rolling the fenders or adding a flare kit.

Even with a correct offset, an 18" wheel is just too big of a diameter for what these cars were designed to run, not to mention what it does to your acceleration.

@ Romak- That top photo actually looks OK, but wheels on the bottom make the ride height just look a little off to me. Are those stock springs in both photos?

hence the fender modifications. im not just rolling, im pulling out the inner lip, reshaping them and glassing them....well im paying somebody to at least

Nope h&r's in both and offset fcab's, no rub except under hard acceleration with passengers in the back the rears rub slightly. Mild roll on both front and rear fenders

I don't think those look too bad, Fernando, but they are stuffed in the wheel well pretty good.

When I was running Style 67's (18x8 et47; 18x9 et26) I didn't have any fender roll, had a slight stretch on the tire, and would rub with anyone in the back seat, hard dips, potholes, hard cornering. I like getting on it in the twisties too much to run a wheel that will rub and I didn't want to modify the body.

If you roll and stretch, you should be OK, although that 9.5" is wiiide!

Sorry for the late reply! I think they are et20 not 100% though, I rolled my arches when i first got them as i had doubts about getting the 9j under there, but in the end i wouldn't have needed to i don't think. I now run 15mm spacers on the front and back just because i like the poke :P that required some arch flaring! I'll upload some more pics when i get a chance, Its lowered on budget front coilovers and the rear has uprated gas shocks and not sure what the springs are, i just kept playing around with different ones until i got it to sit and handle nicely.. oh and i also run adjustable camber mounts on the front!

Edit:
This is how it sits with 15mm spacers and a fat friend in the boot ;)

If that's your white car in your sig, Gold would be flashy if that's your thing but it's a hard color to get right painting. Silver would be a little classier and easier to put down I'd think.

I ordered a Tire/Wheel Package from TireRack.com. 17x7 ET35 Advanti Racing B1 Lupo Silver Painted 15 Spoke Wheels 18.3 Lbs. ea. ($145 ea.) plus four 215/45R17 Continental ContiProContact Blackwall Tires 19 Lbs. ea.($102 ea.) Total including shipping: $1091.86.

Weight per Wheel/Tire increased 1.72 Lbs./Wheel over the Style 27s for a slight performance attenuation.

I removed the “Advanti Racing” Center Cap Emblems and replaced them with 57 mm Diameter sticky-back BMW Wheel Center Cap Emblems I ordered from Amazon.

Here's the URL of the Advanti B1 Lupo Wheels:

changing/adding springs pads on the rear will fix the height issue

how important is it to change/add springs pads when changing shock and springs? Is it necessary? I see 7.5mm and 10mm rear ones on ESCTuning. Then i see 7.5mm on RockAuto which i'm inclined to order. Any help/advice?

I completely removed my rear pads when I installed 2" drop coils and stiff race shocks. Gave me a better drop. But theres some occasional chatter. Still everything is seated nicely. In the front I just reused the stock ones.

Looking at a beautiful set of BBS RS replicas tomorrow and I'm wondering what tire size/offset I will have to run to fit them on my 98' 318 M-Sport. The wheel dimensions are staggered at 16x8 in front and 16x9 in the rear. My car is lowered but not much, about 3/4 of an inch on Eibach pro springs and Bilstein Sports. I'm savvy with a tool kit, but I don't know much about wheel spacers and fender rolling. I would prefer to make minimal modifications and I appreciate any advice/info. The replicas are seemingly high quality, lightweight, and fairly priced. I've always loved the real deal but they are out of my price range

Depends on ur tire size Bro. I have 16x8.5's on mine and I had to get 205/45 rears and 205/40 fronts. I imagine with a 17" wheels ull need 205/40 rears and like 205/35 fronts. If u want rake of course :)

I'm running 17" BMW LTW wheels with 225/45-17 front and 245/40-17 on the rears with no rubbing. It all depends on wheel offset, tire size, how low it is dropped and so on. Good Luck with the Ti.

30yrMBR. Why do u have a fatter tire in the front? U have a 45 front and a 40 rear? Must be like opposite rake or something...

Actually, the wider tire (245 width) is in the rear. I would assume that the difference in profile height (40 rear vs. 45 front) provides for a similar overall wheel diameter when the difference in tire width is taken into consideration.

The first number in a tire size is the number of millimeters in width. The second is an aspect ratio of the width. A 225 is not going to be wider than a 245. It could be taller or shorter but not wider.
hmm..... I guess.

Estii
11-19-2015, 09:13 PM
Hmm. the way I understand it is the first number, say a 225 is the width from the face of the wheel to the back. and the second number, say a 45 is the thickness from the edge of the wheel to the end of the tire. Which is why my wheels being 225 rear and 205 front have a noticeable difference in appearance. And I mean bulging beyond the face of the wheel in the back, and a bit stretch in the front.

I have some old Breyton Rims 8.5J x 17H2 ET 44 and looking for recommendations for tires that are close to stock height and widest without rub so no modifications to the car. Running H&R Sport Springs with Bilstein Struts and shocks Any help is greatly appreciated.

With a 3mm spacer you can run 245/40 on all 4 corners.

I guessing the 3mm spacer is for the front to prevent rubbing on the strut?

Exactly. You might be able to get by without them but keep it in mind.

This is for anyone who’s interested how style 237 would on our cars. It’s 18x8 et30 square fitment. Tires are 225/40/18.
