cel code "--" what is it?

I have a check engine light that comes on after reset about once a week or so. I check the code with my Peake tool and get "--" which of course doesn't give me any information. I've looked at my MSF pipe to the intake and it looks ok. I've replaced my cam position sensor, no problem there. I had a new cat installed after the old one farted out. Anyone ever get this?

secondary air pump - big round plastic cylinder look alike thing under the airbox was triggering CELs for 6 months on my car (ON for about a day or two - then OFF for like 3-4 weeks), till the pump finally failed completely one day and the light stayed on all the time till replaced... then again it's more likely it is just a failed O2 sensor.

should go to Autozone - they'll read your codes for free...
