Okay, i've got a bell type sound coming from my front left wheel area when i hit bumps. what pieces of the suspension does it sound like i need to replace?

the noise? ...just like a bell
when does it happen? ...only when i hit bumps
no other info to offer
what do you boys think?
thanks

i would check for things that might be loose and banging together. i'm thinking the thin metal shield that sits behind the brakes/hub. never heard of a bell sound, but there's always a first time :)

hmm mine does that too. but when im going slow and not so much on bumps i was thinking it was the brake shields tapping against something.

when i had my wheels off i completely forgot to look at that!

when i had the car on a lift a few weeks back i took a look...everything appeared to be solid and intact...i just hate to throw money at issues that i personally can't diagnose.
i'll take the wheel off today and see if it's the shield...then we'll go from there.
right on Eric

now we have two people with bells ... wth. try banging on it and jerking the wheel around too.

sean, if you need an extra set of ears or whatever, we could get together (do double taillight mod at same time for those interested?).

i'll have to remember what all i did on the mod. i drlled holes and used small screws to attach a piece of wire with rings crimped onto the ends to the taillight.

one in the notebook (oft forgotten!) is pretty good, but we can try to improve on it :)

Did you ever figure out that noise? Mine's had it for years and I want to fix it.

I think the eccentric hub rings were shot and caused vibration under certain conditions. My car had plastic rings when I got it...those have been replaced with aluminum hub rings that seem to work a lot better.
