will this work? it looks different than the ones already in the housing.


does anyone have a thermostat for sale?

i am pretty sure that thermostat in the picture will not work. It looks like my dad's M3 thermostat.

yeah i thought so too it doesnt have those clips that hold it to the housing

1998 TI M44, I changed ine last year and the Thermostat was part of the housing

Just changed my thermostat. The one on the M42 looks like that. They are cheap though, like 15$ new at a parts store. I even think the local dealer had it at that cheap of a price.

About a year ago, I paid $17 or so for my M44 thermostat and housing from Pelican. Not sure why it's $45 now, but I'd shoot Ed (bimmerbum) an email.

wow.. That plastic housing looks like it would cause problems. I wonder if you could use the housing and thermostat off of an M42. Then you would have an aluminum housing that doesn't have to be replaced. You just replace the thermostat. I didn't think BMW used plastic housings any more after the problems that the old 635 and 7 series would have with the thermostat housing breaking.. Learn something new every day.
