yeah. thanks. its a portable one; got it on Black Friday for like $170 when normal retail is over $250. made the cord go around the dash to under the steering coloumn. so all the wires are hidden from view, much cleaner i'd say.

they are depos with 6k or 8.5k raptor halos (dont know for sure) and the corners are off ebay. got it off understeer.com already assembled for you.

how do the white face gauges look with the amber backlighting (or did you change it)?

Marv17
12-21-2007, 08:32 AM
no. i didnt change the back lighting, yet anyway. it still lights up amber like the oem cluster face. here's a pic at night. sry it came out a lil blurry tho.

Looks great Marv, see how hard it is to get a shot of the cluster when it's lit? I bet it took you like 5 tries to get that pic. I finally put my camera on self-timer and set it on the steering wheel with my hands off. It still wouldn't quite focus properly. And also, we all know what color the amber gauges are, but in your picture they came out a lot lighter for the same reason my blue gauges keep coming out light in the pics. I don't get it. If I use the flash, I lose the effect. You guys have to see it in person. The best way I could describe it is, well sit in a VW at night and you'll understand.

nice, I like the embroidered headrests, how much was that? (or is it even embroidered?)

no its not. :frown: i wish it were. i've never checked into how much it is and i dont even know if its possible. one of the other member of the forum gave me the wheel emblems and i put them on there. its clean, no glue or whatever showing the emblems are clean. i liked how it came out. its cheap and may look odd but i like it. no one else has it, so just thought to do it.

If it were my car I would take the M badge off the lower grill (although I will give you credit for putting it some place different), get regular clear corners or put the ambers back on, take the roundels off the headrests, and put a different muffler on. I would say that the worst part in my opinion would be the ebay corners. They look cheap and OEM clears or the stock ambers would look much better. And I dont wanna burst your bubble but I dont think your the first one to put roundels on your headrests. But its your car, do what makes you happy.

ppl like red or yellow or oragne (bobby, lol). my whole thing is the "blue" theme. and i didnt like the smoke euro corners much; wanted something to match the depos.

I agree, if it wasn't for people like that car customizing would have never even gotten started. Yeah, I get flamed for having neons on my car and for thinking about putting a fart can on it, but I like my car the way it is and I can take the flaming.

Marv17
12-30-2007, 10:31 AM
its in an envelope. LOL. hahaha. i got mine in today.
but hey jesse. i have a new idea for my cluster. since i cant take off the orange backing of my white cluster, im going to get red bulbs and put those in and put in the 3mm blue LEDs near the needles. itll light up red for the number and have blue needles. a more sporty look, no? what you think? im going to get the LEDs ready while im at work on sunday since ill probably be bored. however i might need your assistance on how to connect them.
btw the rings add a nice touch to the gauges in my opinion.
next = gt splitters and painted calipers when i change my brakes...

Right on Bro. I think blue on red will look cool. I'll help you wire everything up. I gotta go down to West Covina sometime next week to drop off some late gifts and I was planning on dropping off Harold's door panel. Maybe we could hook up that day and I'll help you with the cluster. Haven't really decided on the day yet, but lets set aside a day that we can dedicate to the cluster and get it done instead of a tech meet or whatever. I think the rings will look sharp on plain black gauges too. I guess I have to go to the post office to get my package. It's registered and the mailman is a pussy, he won't come in my yard because he's affraid of my dog, lol.

Marv17

thanks jesse. thanks a lot of letting me get them from you. i owe you one. and dont take no for an answer.

3dge. it fits because its an armrest console made for the ti. the sedan ones fit but its too long so it fits weird. mine didnt sit right so i had to sell it and buy the one made for the ti. a lil more money but its worth it.

jesse - what you think of the eyebrows?

cooljess76
05-09-2008, 10:15 AM
I think they look great bro, your car looks mean. Get a night pic with just the angel eyes on. You need to turn up the ISO and use the timer with your camera on a tripod. DDM used to sell a kit before the angel eyes were popular called "Demon Eyes".

Philly

those corners look 100x better! I really am a hater of those awful cheap corners, especially when coupled with a beautiful set of DEPOS.

I love the eyebrows personally, I prefer the wrap arounds a touch more than those but any eyebrows are hawtness.

And I don't say this often about badgings, but I don't even mind the M badge on the grill

The only thing I can say Im not quite feeling is the blue fogs, but thats very minor. Your Ti looks great Marv! fantastic color!

ATF

I don't feel the eyebrows or the ///M Badge. But at the end of the day, it's your car :)

Things I do love, pardon my language, but I love that ****ing color. Those wheels are also very hot. I like the clears on Alaska Blue as well. Have you thought about going with frenched fogs? I think it might look good. Give it an accent on the front of your car. Looks good!

thanks guys. i know some ppl dont like a few mods i've done or created but eh, what can i do? we have different tastes. however thanks for the compliments and the disagreements.
im trying to look different fromt he usual modifications as possible so thats why i altered the eyebrows and tinted the fogs. Just waiting for one more mod. which is the spoiler. OH. i'm gonna call up the guy in a bit now that i remember.

philly-
the corners are starting to grow on me more and more each day. plus it matches a lot better with the rear euro tail lights and sidemarkers now. and i know how some ppl in the bmw world dont like the ///M emblem where its at because its not a ///M3, but its still m-tech so i thought to put it on. (it was free anyhow).

BUt ill try to put in the stealth lights i got from DDM at bimmerfest. but its a b*tch taking off the corners and putting them on.

edit: gracias (thanks) Philly, ATF, midget, stealth, jesse, etc for the compliments. (any comments are welcome)

The bulbs that DDM was handing out @ BimmerFest are for the tailights. They won't work in the corner lights since they don't have a dual filament. Also, you should be able to change the bulbs without removing the corner light. Just take one of your old bulbs into Pep Boys or AutoZone, they have the chrome bulbs there. And please get us some night shots with just the demon eyes turned on.

Marv17
05-09-2008, 07:13 PM
oh. are they dual filaments? :frown: bummer. ill get around to it later then.
ddm and some other company had the red halo demon eyes before. they no longer make them. but maybe when i need new ones in a few years ill get the bluer ones. ill try to get some shots of it tonight. but you can hardly tell at night.

ATF

I've never found it that hard to take out the corner light. Speaking of which, I just ordered a new socket because the old one is being held in by duct tape :D.. And I just got done cleaning my wheels, in the rain :D (I'm soaked). But yeah, the corners are dual filament.

You should pull the connector (if you haven't already done so) for the corner running lights when the headlight knob is in position 2 and 3. (Assuming 1 is off.) so that they only flash. Gives the car a cleaner look in my opinion.

its a 40 gallon tank. its saltwater, trying to make a small reef tank. barely stocking it up. itll take time to buy everything to put in and grow. i took off the flash when i took the pic. the lighting is compact flourecent 192watts. filtration is a sump with protein skimmer and euro sock style filter pad. have 2 power head pumps.

05-10-2008, 01:10 AM
haha you probably had the wrong pH in your water. You could just buy a kit and you can make it stable for fish. Fish need different pH levels so its better if you knew which ones they would need. I was thinking of of getting a big one and putting some nice good fish. Something like the black volitan lion fish off duece bigolo:biggrin:

Marv17
05-10-2008, 03:08 AM
haha. sucks that your mollie died.
yeah, the pH has to be in an ideal area. freshwater i believe have like a 7.2-7.8 pH (depeding on the type of fish) i think where as the saltwater fish have a 8.2 - 8.4 pH level needed. and all the chemicals and nutrients have to be balanced and at an ideal level as well... sounds complicated but its easier if done right. you should get an upgrade to saltwater fish. start with like a 20 or 30 gallon tank. and start cheap and small.
which reminds me i have to feed my clown fish and the anemone.

elchicano
05-10-2008, 04:56 AM
I went to the store didn't see anything i liked so i'll keep looking around. But yea that lion fish is going for $40 on craigslsit. But yea i might just sell my tank to a friend or my little bro and i'll just go buy me a new tank i'll see what happens. Yup and for every inch of a fish you got to have 2 gallons or else they'll stress out. Yea it isn't hard, yea i might just get into salt water fish. Right now i got tropical fish with a pH of 7.2 and they are doing good. Well that fish that dies lasted me a year.

Yea im waiting to see how how Marvs looks. Anyway I still haven't decided between the m bumper or the spoiler. As for paint i get mine form this site. It matches the color so far people think my eyebrows came with the car.

looks good.. What brand "gps" is that? I also managed to snag a tom tom for dirt cheap on black friday..Whats cool about it, is it fits right in the ash tray to look like it came from the factory. Every one always ask when they get in my car, "This car came with GPS!?" I'll try and get some pics up laters

its a Garmin. i would put it down there in the ash tray too but its easier to look at while driving. dont want to look down and then bam hit someone in front because i was looking at the gps for too long.

I don't like your exhaust tip that much, IMO, it would look better with 2 tips

the rest of the car = :_pelvic2:

pauly-
yeah, i know man... :-/ but it was better than the mini stock tip. i had an aftermarket exhaust welded on but it was way too loud for normal driving. so i took it off but kept the tip. hopefully ill be getting something different soon. stay tuned...

im gonna paint it myself. i cant afford a new paint job for the whole entire car just yet so i have these cans with the oem paint in them. had them made. i've used it plenty of times and its done great work. painted my front bumper with it to cover the blemishes, the mirrors and eyelids. so its working out just fine for the time being.
in the future ill probably paint it LSB or just keep the original color.
college student = too poor to get a nice paint job at the moment. lol.

I UNDERSTAND, But hearing about these spray cans in gardena.... Do you still have the address?! My fenders & hood r teRrible. Another thing keeping me from painting it is; what color to go with?
I was also considering LSB! A guy in Irvine has an LSB ti. (been meaning to take a look in person) Many say keep the OG, but come on... individuality too. Alaska sounds good, and so does Estroil... At SPOCOM '08 there was this sick grey on a bmw sedan! Man I think that's neat

Your car is AWESOME! I do like the M on the grill. Where can I get one?
I love the dash!! I didn't have the courage, my ppl would say it looks ricer. So I'm glad someone did it! Can't wait to see it in person. I have to ask about that TI armrest. Been looking and can't find one. :frown:
and I don't care what anyone says about your fogs, that sh!te looks sweet.

thanks commander. i try. just takes time. i dunno what to do next.
ill get that address and number tomorrow. i have to look for the card, or i think the cans have the address. the guys there are chill. look like hippies in a way. but minimum is 3 cans for 45 bucks.
i was thinking about painting my ti LSB too when i get the money raised up in the future. looks killer.

The pics don't really do it justice. It looks way better in person as most of the SoCal guys will agree. The color is more consistent in person and the blue is a little darker shade than the pics show. I've had the hardest time trying to get a decent shot of it, but I don't think my camera is capable of capturing the true color. Anyway, glad you like it Marv, thanks for posting pics.

Edit; see how bright the numbers are? That's really not the color. The whole cluster actually lights up the same color of the needles(the darker blue). I don't know why the pics always make it look light blue???
