I am a new owner of a Ti and I wanted to know if it is normal to hear some whinning. Its only when I am going about 70 mph and let off the gas in 5th gear. I think the whinning is coming from the diff. Could this be solved by changing the oil? If so is it easy to change the diff. oil? any help would be appreciated

Its super easy to change the diff. oil. You can change it without even jacking up the car. All you need is the oil, 14mm Allen key attachment for the ratchet, and some sort of siphon or pump. There is a write up in the knowlegde base forum on this site

yes agreed very simple.

how many miles are on your car.

some high mile diffs will whine at high speeds. its when it starts clanking and making nasty noises when you know its time for replacement or a swap from an e30 limited slip.

Some of us have stock lsds, you know.

What kind of LSD is the stock type? is it viscous, clutch, etc?

I wouldn't be very concerned about the whining... as said before its when you hear sounds that just make you cringe that you should worry about.

After you've changed your diff oil, let it cool down before you torque down the aluminum bolts. Put them on, but only hand tight until the diff cools. You also probably want to get new crush washers from the dealer.
