View Full Version : Midwest Ti Roll Call!

Post here if you life in the Midwest (IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, WI), I'd like to see how many of us there are, and where. We seem like a rare breed out here- I was completely amazed when I saw two tis in one weekend a few weeks back. maybe the owners are on here. One looked to be Alaska Blue, I have no idea what model, and the other was an obviously non-bmw orange/burnt umber with an active exterior. Anybody claim them? I haven't seen them since.
If there are enough of us out here in the flats, maybe we can pull a meet together sometime.
Me: I live in the East suburbs of Saint Paul, MN.

Well I don't live in the states mentioned. I do live in Iowa, which is still the the mid-west and I often frequent Wisconsin and Chicago.

Yeah, it might take considerable driving, but I think it'd be great to finally meet some ti enthusiasts in the area. I doubt it's going to be warm enough for any functional meet for a while though, so late spring/early summer sounds good to me too.

Well looking at the spread on the map, the Chicago area looks like it's the center of all of our locations. I'd have to drive upwards of six hours, which is a little sketchy, but the rest of you look like you could do it in five or less. Cincinatti is second farthest at about 4 hours and 45 minutes from Chicago. I'll have to see how the drive factor plays out.

Not sure what rocket ship you drove in but Chi-town is a solid 6 hours from the Queen City (also lived in Minneapolis). I know it should be less (cuz I did Cincy-Chicago in college in 5 hrs) but every time I drive it's crazy now. You either have to drive like an idiot 10 feet off someones bumper at 80mph or park in the slow lane with RV's and cattle trucks. I hate it, but would go for a Ti meet n greet.

Ahhh, a face only a mother could love. Brings back fond memories of childhood in Milwaukee actually. My scout master worked for AMC and we had Gremlin stickers on the canoes and Jeep bags for hauling gear.

I help the Badger Bimmer's setup events, and I think we have a couple at Road America, BlackHawk and Gingerman this year. If any of you guys want to meet up at one of those track events just let me know. I won't be rolling a 318ti, but you can pretend, it's still an e36. ;)

So We always talk about doing meets but i think we should do one next summer/spring in chicago. There seems to be a lot of members from there and they are somewhat centraly located. Plus more stuff to do there.
Maybe you chi town guys can help us out here and see if there are any car events in the area around that time and we can plan a meet around that.
If we plan now im sure it will help make it more possible.

So do any of you MN Ti guys want to meet up sometime to give a test ride/drive? I'm still thinking about getting one once my truck sells, but I have never even been in one yet. And by the looks of things lately I'm going to have to make a road trip to buy one, so I'd like to actually check one out before I take the plunge. Really be nice to check one out with the sporty leather/cloth combo seats. That is what I am going to find for myself. I live about 35 minutes East of St. Paul, but I head over to the metro every now and then.
