I have some questions about building up my motor in my M44. The main one I have is would it be a problem using a high mileage motor or should I just spend the extra $1500 and buy a motor with 50k miles?

second, any recommendations on where to buy the parts?

My goal is to build a 250rwhpish all motor 318

thanks, Nick.

I don't think you will be able to make 250hp with the stock ti motor, the only real way to make power with these cars is with a dasc or an M3 engine swap

There is a shop out here in San Diego that built one, I know it would be difficult to build it. I was thinking about a SC or turbo(I had a 1.8t gti and a Nissan Silvia), I love turbo cars but it seems like SC is the way to go with 318's.

So if I was to go with a charger I still need to know where to order parts to build up the motor.

I have talk to tunermotorsports (or email, i forget) they have built a NA motor and got close to 300hp. BIG$$$$$$$$$$ Dont let them scare you with "there is no other way". The machining a lone would be big money.

This is what i would do if I nothing else to do with my money.

1 bigger valves
2 ported head
3 exhaust
4 ITBs (individual throttle bodies)

5 ECU reprogram or a standalone
6 M47 crank 2.1 L
7 pistons high compression
8 rods
9 injectors
10 camshafts
11 valve springs and retainers

anything else?
