I don't know how much is like $45 right? I'll see i have been thinking about it. The discount would have come in handy with all the parts i just got.

I'm going to try to make it this year. I've gone twice previously. Last year there was only one other ti and it was an instructor's, he wasn't driving it. I was in group B then.

need a helmet too, right?

woh
04-17-2008, 12:34 AM
yeah, you need a Helmet for the track event, your car can not leak anything on the track, brakes need to be about less than 50% worn, and there is an inspection (Free) a week and half before the event. You might be able to borrow a helmet.

This is my first time.

For the car clinic I don't think you need a helmet.

its 40 a year and i made my money back in the first week.

i bought a door sensor, a trim piece, door clips, oil filter, and intake boot, and i think i already saved 50-60 dollars. the door sensor alone was 60 and i got it for 30

I got back from Mexico this morning at 2am, got some sleep and headed down to the Aroroa Race Track parking lot for the BMW Car Control Clinic. It was great. I did not see any ti's there, but I did arrive late at about noon.

There was a braking exercise where we accelerated into a corner and applied the brakes in the corner as hard as possible.

The slolom exercise got the car thrown right and left was fun.

The best was the skid pad. A dry circle and a wet circle. You go around in a tight circle, hold the steering wheel roughly constant and tighten and open the circle with the accelerator. That was the best. All were too short.

If any of you get a chance to try this, I recommend it. Everyone was very helpful, instructive and encouraging. Next stop is the track Pueblo on June 1.

Oh, almost forgot when in Playa del Carmen (sp?) I saw a black 323ti crossing 5th avenue. Tried to get a picture, but could not get the camera out fast enough.

Hmm, any idea if it was an authentic 323ti or just a swap? Sounds like you had fun. Haven't had a chance to do any car control clinics, but the drive through the canyons out there with Eric on Sunday was a nice lesson. :)

No idea. We were tourist shopping when the car came across the main tourist shops road. I saw it mostly from the rear after it went by.

Before getting on the track, a Technical inspection is required. Today I went for the technical inspection. It's free, but .... . To pass, your pads must have at least 50% remaining. After the BMW driving clinic my front pads were about 40%. So ... they need replacing. The rotors were somewhat worn as well, so I'm having them replaced with cross drilled rotors. I expect I'll do a lot of hard braking when on the track in Pueblo and be in good shape now. Wish me luck.

I did the one day BMW driving school in Pueblo. All went very well. The car performed perfectly. The instructor was terrific. I recommend it highly to anyone with a ti.

Sounds like you had fun. The Iowa BMWCCA chapter is putting on a driving event at a local road course track here this coming weekend. It's called The Longest Day Driving School (http://www.bmwia.org/LDDS2008.html). I found out about it too late to register, and even if I had found out in time, I don't think I would have had the money for it (or to get the car up to spec to pass inspection). Sounds like a yearly event though and hopefully I'll be able to make it next year.

Iowa is a bit far for me, but the BMW club does put on an event in Hastings. I might try to make that next year. My wallet is getting thin this year.

Hi Dave, I've never been to one of these, but No I'm going to a Go Kart British Car meet. I'll post it later. It is a track event east of Erie, but much cheaper than the real thing.
