Diff b/w Base, Active, and Sport suspensions

Can anyone simply describe the difference between the Base, Active, and Sport suspensions?

What I'm looking for:

- ground clearance
- wheel clearance
- hub height differences

etc.

Just curious, and I've had 0 luck dredging up anything on this.

the sport sat about a 1/2 inch lower than the other models and of course was slightly stiffer. other than that the differences were mostly aesthetic...besides the lsd differential on the sport.

I think it was just springs...slightly stiffer, I don't recall any lowering differences.

The Sport and Active model (in 95 anyway) got the 15" alloy wheels.

I have a '98 sport I ordered new. The suspension is aprox. 3/4 inch lower all around, and slightly stiffer. Far less stiff than I was prepared for. The shocks are also up-rated on the sport suspention. The sway bars seem to be the same size across the board, but this weekend I will be installing a M-Coupe` rear sway bar which is MUCH larger than the stock sport sway bar (19mm Vs. 15mm). It looks pretty easy, but the bushings had to be ordered from the dealer along with the brackets for about $24.00.

16" wheels (optional on the Z3) with 5 spokes were standard in the package, and don't look too bad.

For every-day driving, and occasional auto-cross use, a really good package. Just up-rate the sway bars to controll the roll, and you will be very pleased, and your fillings won't fall out.

Race springs LOOK cool, but if you don't spend over 50% of your time on a race track, don't bother with them.

Oh, yeah. I forgot:

The LSD was an OPTION, even if the "sport" package was selected. I learned this the hard way, as I do NOT have a LSD.

Also, the radio could NOT be deleted. I tried on my car, but no-go. I DID manage to delete the sunroof, but $500.00 of my deposit was non-refundable due to deleting the sunroof. I don't expect there are too many ti sports without sunroofs...

Do not assume that if you buy a ti sport that it will have a LSD.
