What are considered the best springs? What is the word on H&R, Racing Dynamics, and Spax?

most people swear by H&R...eibach gets some good reviews.

Is it absolutly necessary to replace the shocks when installing lowering springs. My TI has 101K miles and I am wondering if it is ok to leave the original shocks on there. Will they be alright at the beginning but suck after a month or two?

i have h&r springs on my '96 ti. when i first put them on, i used the stock shocks.
they worked fine, but after a while, they were worn out. i now have bilstein sports on the car. i would think that your stock shocks would be pretty far along at over 100,000. i would think about how much more use you will get, because if they go after you install the springs, you will have to remove everything again. hope this helps.

That's what I figured. Thanks.

H&R's are really nice. Actually, you don't have to get the more expencive ones for the ti. I have a set that were for a BMW 328is (stage 3) and it is really nice. I don't bottom out on really anything. Just a thought if you were trying to save some money. The reason that I have those is because I found a guy that slod them to me for $75 for the set, it was taken off a 328is.

Yep, I have a set on my TI. I'm running them with a set of Bilstein HD Sports. It's a comfortable ride and I've been happy with them. I originallly wanted the Eibachs, but they've discontinued spring production for TIs which sucks.

From what I understand, the BavAuto springs are right in between H&Rs and an Eibach Pro-Kit, in terms of comfort and ride quality.

If you're considering them, I would recommend them... especially since they're the most affordable. And they're made by the same manufacturer for BMW's OEM springs.

As far as I know they don't make it for the TI, so I went with koni/H&R sports, but I did find the cup kit on german E-bay for the E36 compact

we're running H&R sport / Koni adj. on our audi wagon and it runs beautfully...so i'll probably go the same route.

Has anyone herd any bad things about the BMPD lowering kit? It uses Bilstein Shocks with 'their' springs, and claim to lower the car 1.4/1.25. Or is their something that is more worth my while for lowering my car around the same price ($600-$700).

Any input would be great Thanks.

I looked under my front fenders yesterday and noticed that my front shocks/springs were touching my front tires. This can't be normal or is it. I have 215/50 16's on my car right now and the stock tire is 205/55 16's. That shouldn't cuase a problem should it?

Well...I did a little more looking around and noticed there was actually about a half inch clearance between the tire and strut, so I guess everything is okay...After this winter I am going to upgrade to I think Bilstein sport shocks/struts and probally bavauto springs...you guys think that is a good combination?

I just did the bilstein / bav auto suspension upgrade and i love it.

its firmer, lower, but not at all punishing!

I think I will do the same upgrade. I now have the stock 15" alloys, but want to go up to 17". I see you have the 15's and 16"s. Your rims shown on your car are the style I like most, but seem to be 16". Do they make that style in 17"?

Thanks
Eric
