engine ticking sound

hi, i have a 96 ti (manual). When Im sitting in idle, i can hear a rapid ticking sound from the engine, and the engine shakes a bit. But when i press the clutch down, the ticking sound goes away... any ideas?

The Haynes manual says input shaft bearings or clutch release bearing for the symptoms you describe.
