Well, just as the title says. I have an engine tick that came to be after swapping a new head on, and can't figure out what it is. Thought it was the vanos, so swapped a different one on, no change. I believe it is coming from the vanos area, definetely sounds like the front of the engine.
Tried a de-gunker, no change. Fresh oil change did nothing. I'm wondering if something happened to something inside when the car had a bad head gasket, and it leaked into the oil? It made this noise for about 15 seconds for a couple days prior to pulling the head, but it would go away, now it won't.
