Rough Heavy Vibrating at idle

Still trying to work out kinks of the 98 sport I got off of ebay a month or so ago. Has developed what I refer to as a rough or heavy idle...tach stays steady at 600rpm or so but at idle the car shakes, vibrates?? When moving car seems fine. Any thoughts?

So your saying that it shakes when your at a stop?

I think it could be your ICV or your intake boot has some tearing in it.

hehe.. I'll give what seems to be my standard answer as of late.. Check your motor mounts.

Yea...at stop...I thought about the motor mounts too...just had it in the shop for a new sensor as a result of check engine light....before that it idled just fine.

What sensor did you have replaced? It's entirely possible that they knocked something else loose while they were in there. I'd start by looking in that area.

Feel the mounts, if they are extremely hard, cracked, or if you can feel the inner metal piece has ripped through the outer rubber they are shot... On mine it was very obvious that it broke. The car would feel fine driving along, but at idle the entire front end would shake and vibrate like crazy.

Probably the engine mounts. The same thing you describe was happening with me. I changed the engine and tranny mounts and the knocking/vibrating are gone and the car runs smooth again.
