What weight synthetic oil should I run in my TI? I know that this was a topic on the mailing list, but I never did get a final verdict. I AutoX my TI and like to flog my car in the 3.5-6K rev range. Here in SoCal, the temp never drops below 50F, so I am thinking of either 10-40W or thicker synth oil. Comments, suggestions? What brand should I use? Mobil 1?

I use 5W30 Castrol Syntec. It works for me. Besides, that is what the dealer used that I got the car from. No need to change.

That light of oil? I ended up putting 15w-50 Mobil 1 oil, and I loved the initial results. The engine seems much smoother. I don't know if it is simply the psychological affect changing my oil had on ME or the affect of the new oil in the car.

I would also recommend the use of the 5W30 Synthetic, the dealers recommends and it definitely will be excellent for winter. You have to consider the low fluidity of the 15W40 when you cold start your engine which will increase the wear in your engine. I read a long time ago in one of the bardahl oil's manuals that EACH cold start could equal to 500 miles of wear if the appropiate oil is not used. 15W40 & 15W50 would be great for a truck or a high performance engine.

I am sorry, after re-reading your question i found the detail that you are in S. California and i guess that 10W40 will work great for you. Try Redline or Amsoil oils.
