Saw a boston(?) green ti in college park on Sunday morning.

I was leaving the comcast parking lots and it was turning onto Metzerott. I think that it had a bike rack hanging off the hatch. It was probably a 95 or 96 because it had unpainted valences and skirts.

Anyone?

Saw this guy again, this time on 495 headed toward Silver Springs. Unfortunately, I was in my friend's Civic which, incidentally, does not have 318ti.org stickers on it.

This morning I saw a ~95ish (unpainted lowers) ti stuck in the 495 traffic near the 495/95 exit. It was a lighter blue-gray color.

Even though I live in NorCal, (where there are almost as many ti's as in SoCal) I do not see very many in my travels. And, yes, it always seems to go in cycles... Won't see one for a month, then they are everywhere I turn... Never seen one with .org stickers, though...

In the city I live in, its only 2. 318ti's ithink... all others are 316 compact or normal 318 compact... I'v seen that other ti just one time... those others I rarely see...

Saw a Hellrot sport around 5pm at Green Turtle in Columbia, MD. Older dude driving it, looked really nice. He took off quick before I could yell something...:frown:

Then, while I was watching the game, there was a DHL commercial where they are shipping plates, when they show a shot of europe there is a ti driving down the street. Thought that was spot worthy.

First time! Spotted an arctic white ti with 318ti.org stickers today! In Costco parking lot in Vallejo, CA around 1pm... Looked like a sport (had OEM style spoiler), Style 68 rims (z3), and lower eyelids (kinda looks like e46 compact lights).

Saw one today at a walmart, by I70 and tower. It was a black Ti looked like it was a 95 or 96. They were looking at my Ti but i didn't notice it until it was driving away. I thought he was going to drive back but he didn't.

Saw a different boston green ti on campus today. Was a late model (painted lowers) and had 15" style 32 wheels. Gave the guy the peace sign and he returned it. Hopefully he saw my .org stickers.

Saw an Alaska (I think) blue ti yesterday on Rt.100. I gave thumbs up and the driver definitely saw me. My 318ti.org sticker was right where he could see it too. Unfortunately, my exit was coming up and I couldn't hang for very long.

Saw, what some call, an Alpine White Ti sport with the 96 sidemarkers going North on I-95 today around 11am near Exit 41. I gave the thumbs up to the woman driving and she waved at me. Great looking car!

Saw a ti on campus today. It was coming out of Regent's garage onto Regent's drive. It was black with unpainted lowers. It had a huge vinyl BMW roundel on the rear window and various other vinyls plastered all over the car. Had a fart can, which appeared to be rusted, and bottlecaps. No 318ti.org logo, thank goodness.

That is the second completely trashed ti I have seen in college park, sucks.

Walked out to my car in lot 9 today and found another ti parked next to me. It was silver, automatic, and had MA tags. I didn't see any ti.org stickers. Glad to see another ti on campus.

From your first post over a year ago, I think I saw the same boston green ti. I was in virgina a little more than a year ago, car was just like you described. I remember that car specifically becuase I had never seen a ti with a bike rack on the hatch before. I cant belive how people can go long periods of time without seeing another ti. I am in the same boat with you and I discover a new ti almost daily. Before I had bought my ti, I would rarely see one. I remember only 2 that I would see once in a while who live around here. Now, most days I see a couple out of the 10 or so ti's that reside in this area. Almost daily, I see a ti which i haven't seen before. I have only seen 3 ti's with 318ti.org stickers, and I have not seen a ti modified beyond different rims. A couple of the local ti's are kept in ok condition. Only one of them(a sport) is always looking flawless. All of the other ti's are in terrible shape, most have sagging bumpers(some missing bumpers), faded paint, mixmatched rims, never washed, absolutely no care and respect. When I see a ti at a redlight, I wave, and if I run into one at a gas station or parking lot, I say hello sometimes say something about their nice car. In return they look away and act like they don't see me, acting like I am crazy or stupid. I hate seeing people let these cars rust away as if its a honda. Just wondering if anyone else see's these cars treated so badly?

there used to be a pretty ratty hellrot in my town, rust all over, including the hubcap-less steelies, only a few spots of clearcoat left on the entire car, the last time I saw it about 2 years ago it was on a flat bed and I haven't seen it since

I also used to see a black one, contour reps, parts of the interior were painted red and it was obviously beat on every day, trim was missing, looked like it had been bottomed out hard at least once because half the front bumper was missing, last time I saw it it had a for sale sign and was parked in the guys lawn

haven't seen many since then but there's a pretty decent looking black one with hubcaps that I've seen around town twice, I'm hoping to eventually meet the guy and refer him here since he gave me a thumbs up when I passed him in my ti once :)

i've only seen 3 that i know of ever. one in simsbury ct, Green, lowered, rims, after market front bumper and vented front fenders.

the second was in Granby ct, also green, but was totally stock as far as i could tell.

the third was in Manchester Ct, silver M series, looked stock. i saw this one 2 days before i found and bought mine.

I see ti's everyday everywhere but there's just one that calls my attention is a silver sport lowered with some rims I've never seen in the org bt I kno they r BMW rims a girl drives it and everytime she is drivin it I'm always walkin to the park so don't get a chance to talk to her bt yeah looks nice until u see the front bumper beat to hell and back ... Why are some girls such horrible drivers looks like it rarely gets washed .. Bt yeah she lives like 4 blocks from my house gonna try to snatch a pic one of these days

The short, incomplete answer is very. BMW is very stingy about publishing their actual sales data, but somewhere on this forum is a list reprinted from a book about BMW that lists sales numbers for the ti in the US. IIRC, the high years were '97 and '98 and those were in the 5 to 6 thousand per year range. There were only something like 650 for the '99 model year. I've never seen figures for the other E36s, but it's probably at least in the 10 to 12 thousand per year range. The E36 in the US ran from MY '92 through '99 and the ti only ran from MY '95 to '99 so there has to be multiple tens of thousands of e36s out there that aren't 318tis.

Out recently walking my dog. Walked past a local indie garage whose owner I know. Peeking out of the service bay was a white, older ti with beige leather seats and 15 inch oem alloy wheels. Guess what was busted...the plastic coolant pipe next to the fire wall. I saw the car a few days later on the road so I guess the head didn't get cracked.

there are like eight 318ti's at State College, PA (ie, Pennstate University) that i saw in just the past few weeks.

A nice Blue one, parked on South allen street, near the bottom of the hill were the exxon is (i live really close to you)

3 black ones, one has really nice rims. the other has mix-matched rims, the other just standard 5 spokes. all male drivers

4 silver ones, 1 female and 3 males, one has an m3 front and rear bumper.

Mine is silver with M3 front bumper and 17inch rims, euro plate, blue toe on front bumper, tinted windows, euro lights and probably a driver side headlight that is out (darn thing never works when i want it to, crappy aftermarket wiring)

let me know if you see me, i am surprised to see MORE 318ti then any other BMW up here. haha.. it is a 318ti paradise or something.

So I have noticed a red ti that is parked at the universal fitness in Lancaster, PA off of Oregon road and there's a blue ti that parks right down the street at a real estate place, the blue one has a wing on it and the red looks maybe like a clubsport, they are both very clean, I'm guna leave a note the next time i see one of them so let me know if its one of you

not really. I mean if you see a ti, post up. If the car is sporting .org stickers, they're obviously a member of the site. Not everyone on the site has stickers and then of course there's those ti owners who don't know about this site. So my question is this, if you're saying that this thread is "dedicated to those who aren't on the site", how are they supposed to see the post, lol. So if you see a ti, regardless if it has .org stickers or the person is or isn't a member, post accordingly. ex, "Hey I seen a clean Artic silver ti cruising on US101N through North Hollywood last night, was it anyone on here?" I've even left 318ti.org stickers on parked ti's before. I always carry a few extras in my glovebox. It's all about helping the community grow and putting the word out there.

don't like the painted wheels. There was a BG Sport near me for a while but it had gone. Owner made it look wrong with ebay 'crystal' projectors, blue-white LED angel eyes and lexus tail lights, made me angry whenever I drove past lol
