I know that there are a few more that could be added.
Now I have a question, Who drives the hellrot around westminister? I saw that you had black rims with a silver lip. This must have been a few weeks back.

bullmand
09-06-2008, 07:17 PM
You can add me to the list as well. I travel quite a bit for work so I'm not always around, but I'll make it when I can. I've also been seeing what seems like more tis than usual in the Catonsville/Baltimore/Ft Meade area lately. I think most of them are people that are not on here. We'll have to see what we can do about that.

I was waiting for you to find this thread Bullman. Now Gimp just needs to find this...

I'm actually on the road right now and I can't always get on the internets. I wanted to go the meet, but I was out here. Did you get new wheels? I thought I saw you on post the other day with some new bling.

trickiekid
09-08-2008, 10:19 AM
I haven't seen you around in a while, but yeah I have seen a few new ti's in the area. I actually bought two new sets a few months ago. I don't know what I was thinking when i bought chrome wheels. I wish that I was drunk when I did so that I would have somewhat of an excuse. And I bought a set of e38 style 5's. I really needed them. Gimp was telling me about an event coming up at the end of the month in Bowie, you going to be back in time?

gimp
09-09-2008, 03:50 AM
Yup, I'm in the area too.

The autocross is next weekend at the BaySox Stadium. I'll be there running my ti, and my girlfriend will be running her Fit.

http://www.capitaldrivingclub.com/

That's the website for the group putting it on. Registration for non-members opens on the 19th, incase a few other ti's want to come out and play.

trickiekid
09-09-2008, 04:07 PM
HOw much is registration and will they have loaner helmets?

gimp
09-09-2008, 04:34 PM
There will be loaner helmets.

"SATurday September 27th Autocross

We're back at the Bowie Baysox Stadium in Bowie, MD for this event.

Registration and tech inspection will be at 8:00 and will promptly close at 8:45 to try to accommodate the full field, while still giving 6 runs. You must be DONE by 8:45. So if you arrive at 8:00 you won't have a problem. Don't arrive at the last minute. If you don't get teched and registered by 8:45, you will lose your morning runs.

The event fee for the SATurday autocross is $25 for members and $35 for non-members at this event.

Reservations

Member reservations (or participants that will join the club upon showing up) for any events can be made at any time (see Schedule Section at www.capitaldrivingclub.com ). Open reservations for non-members for this event begin Friday September 19th.

Accepting New Members

We will also be accepting new members at this event. Annual dues are $30 (12 months from the date you join the club). This event will be the last time in 2008 that we will be taking new members. We will be on a membership freeze until further notice (probably until May 2009).

So if you are joining at this event, you may reserve your slot now. Just use “0” as your member number and type, “I will be joining the club at this event” in the Notes Section in on-line reservation system.

Otherwise, non-members must wait until Friday September 19th to make your reservation."

There is no class, but there are "instructors" available. My suggestion is to find someone to ride with you for at least the morning session. If I'm available, I'd be happy to do it.

I'll get there nice and early to help anyone who wants to try. I'd love to get a few ti's out there.

Cool! Check out http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23792 for the next meet/photoshoot/cruise.

It would still be cool if there was someone else from VA, so we could change the name from MAR to um, something else...until then, I guess I'm one of the MD guys.

spidertri

Not new to the area- but new to having a ti! I just got a '97 M-Sport, and I'm looking forward to meeting more ti cult people!

Don't know why this doesn't seem to be mentioned here, but CCA socials make a great meetup. The club meets once a month in at a restaurant in Columbia, and it subsidizes beer and pizza! Everyone gets together an hour or so before hand to hang out and check out each others cars. Next one is next week on thursday. I'd love to see more ti's there!

College Park/ Beltsville/ Baltimore---I roam.
Depends on the day and season, I never seem to know what the heck is going on.

Question? Have any of you thought about opening a social group, specifically for the mid-atlantic? I might make it easier to post about upcoming events, etc.

RedDog

I understand there is some talk about having a possible meet some point soon. I am open to different ides but the best I can think of involves Summit Point. On July 11 the National Capital Chapter is having an AutoX there and on July 25-26 the New Jersey Chapter is having a club race and driving school. I think the club race might be better idea since it probable won’t cost anything and we could all find a spot at a turn. Would anyone possible be open to this idea or anything else? I would be driving from Richmond, VA and would be happy to meet some people somewhere if they wanted to caravan together?

Not a bad idea, when a comment is made in a social group does it automatically email everyone in that group about it? That would be helpful. Otherwise it would be pretty much the same as this forum.

Definitely a good idea. I, unfortunately, will be out of town the weekend of the 25th. I would really love to check out the club race...:frown:

GRR I don't know. I looked it up, but I guess someone is going to have to start a social group. Is that how you have, event reminders? Because that's also a navigation point on the User CP.

These would all be really helpful I think, in automating notifications and stuff.

spidertri
06-26-2009, 10:08 PM
I think if you go to the calendar you can create an event which people can RSVP to and then I suppose get reminders about. That would be good to do for meets and stuff.

it doesn't, but the blogs do, if you just have the same person making the entries everyone else can subscribe to their blog and they'll get emailed about new comments and entries

Spent the morning cleaning the interior of the 318ti. Was shocked to find out the parking brake wasn't dove leather, just covered in 1/4 inch of pure nasty. Went through the whole thing top to bottom with a shark steamer, a full compliment of professional detailing cleansers, and a wet dry vac. Never seen so much filth before in such a small car. Certain now that anyone who gets in the 318 will not get any transmittable diseases.. I thought the lights were out on the HVAC controls, turns out they were just coated in grime. Getting ready to start putting it back together here in about 2 weeks and return it to its former glory.
