I have a 318Ti, and I'm desperate, because my car has a problem that no one can't fix!
My 318 suffers from a highly instable Idle speed, and everything that is turned on (radio, parking manovering, ac, windows, etc) make the idle drop to 200rpm and then it stalls...
Lambda sensor and Idle valve have been replaced but the problem doesn't go away.
Now it's even worst it doesn't starts unless I give some throtle.

I've actually never heard that symptom.

Are you on the original battery?
Could it be as simple as an alternator problem?

I've had similar problems when doing tight parking (locking the wheel) and using the AC - I've only stalled once or twice, but it seems that if I keep all my air, fuel, and oil filters clean it doesn't get too bad.
Strange though...

ok, i had almost this exact same problem, turns out when i went to get this fixed by a mechanic that i know very well, and not a bmw mechanic he told me it is probably 1 of 3 things, that i have either a vacum hose leek, a faulty o2 sensor, or something is up with my mass air flow sensor. It happend to be the 3rd, i am going to sound like an absolute genious, i know, but i put a cold air intake on my car and put the mass air flow sensor on the wrong way. . . I was pretty proud. That has never happened to me, but I've read about that happening to others...sorry wish I could help more.... My battery did die within the first six months I owned the car and it only had 27,000 miles on it...I thought it was the alternator, so I took it in for BMW to fix ended up being the battery and that wasn't covered on the warranty it cost 250.00 bucks for the stupid battery if I would have known I could have it done for under a hundred at my mechanincs place...oh well!

If the voltage is above 14.5 volts it will cause all sort of wierd things. I have seen some as high as 19. Or it may be to low, I would check this first. also check and make sure the battery connections are good, pay close attention to the smaller wires these are the ones that supply power to the eletronics.
