Hey everyone,
First off I would like to thank everyone who answered my first questions, I do appreciate it. This post is just a general question that I am curious about. A few of my friends have Honda civics and Acura integra's. Decent cars, I just don't like Jap crap. I could go on all day about how I hate them, but I won't. Anyways, My question is this. Would light weight pistons be a good investment on the 318ti? It seems that they make a world of difference in my friends rice burners, I am thinking that maybe they woudl make a bit of a difference in my little 1.9 ltr. 4. Well, incase you dont' already know, I am a sucker and a half for four bangers, and in truth I want nothing else than a four banger that shows up the 6's. Well, just curious about this idea. If anyone else has any ideas of how I can really get some good power out of this powerplant let me know. Thanks again everyone.

if you want to hang with the sixes I have a downing atlanta supercharger on my 98 ti. The 1/4 mile was 16.5 @ 82 mph pre-supercharger and 15.2 @ 93 post-supercharger. I have raced a 95 325 manual and won by about three car lengths and a 96 328 manual and won by about a half of car length. I also raced a 01 330i tiptronic and lost by a half of car length. The only other mods I have are supersprint exhaust and the Dinan software upgrade.

Hey, my bro just got the DASC on his 96 318ti. He's been looking for an exhaust and a new clutch. I'm sure his car now equipped w/ the DASC he'll see extra gains w/ an exhaust as opposed to the stock setup. He's wants a quiet exhaust and i was wondering how the supersprint is. Is it a cat-back system or just a muffler? And were you able to tell a difference in low-end/top-end or was it all for looks and sound.
As for a clutch, he definitely wants and needs one with a little more bite. I have a first stage ACT clutch in my car and it is perfect in terms of pedal pressure, drivability and longevity. Unfortunately they don't make applications for bimmers. He's looking for something similar. Just a step above stock. We know centerforce has their dual-friction setup available but does anyone have any experience with this setup or another company? If there's anything else you can fill me on, let me know.

Also, how'd that dinan software upgrade do for you?

Thanks,
gills

The supersprint is too quiet for me but if you want quiet, it is. As far as the Dinan software I didn't do any testing before/after I only did it to remove the 118 speed limiting when I entered the Silver State Classic race. I will be upgrading to a 280mm clutch, hartge header and lightened flywheel soon

Ok, what company makes this 280mm clutch and the lightened flywheel? Did you see gains from the exhaust? and is the exhaust a cat-back system or just muffler-back?

BMP and a few others sell the flywheel but lately there have been a few disputes as to what size clutch will fit in the stock bellhousing.
