A couple weeks ago I got an email from Jim Goodroe telling me he had found an blower in the warehouse while they were cleaning it out. It was a unit used on a display motor and a display car they used to take at expos... Basically is brand new...
Today I finally got a chance to confirm my interest and buy the kit. He said they'll have to machine a couple of parts for the Z3 so it will be ready to ship out by early next week.
I guess I got the very last DASC coming out of Downing Atlanta!!!!

Dude play the lottery..just a one dollar ticket. You have more of a chance of wining the lottery than finding that one last DASC from Jim. You will love the boost!!!

ehehe... I'm waiting for the phone to ring and Jim telling me everything is ready to be shipped out...
I was about to buy the check valve from HuGo but then decided to hold off and go with NickG Stage 2, and then I promise I'll hang the wrench...
Some were suggesting Stage 3, but I wanna keep the stock airbox and the stock muffler. I know I'm gonna loose some potential, but I don't want the car to sound any louder... I wanna keep it stealth (as stealth as a Z3 can be...)... But well, you got the point...
The reason for Stage 2 is more technical: although the RRFPR gets the job done, it's not the best way of doing it. Stage 2 is more of the way it would have came out from the BMW factory if BMW would have made a SC M44...
However, speaking to Jim, he said the main reason they used the RRFPR was to be able to get the kit CARB approved; not being CARB approved would have been a deal breaker for me as I wouldn't have liked to go through the pain of disassembling and reassembling the kit once a year...
Hopefully it makes sense...

hate to brake it to you like this, but the airbox is history man... got to take it out when installing the dasc... I hated it too.
Also, the muffler has nothing to do with the dasc install.

On the DA website they have this picture:

That Z3 uses the stock airbox. However, mine is Fogged.
Regarding the muffler, I mentioned it because a higher flow muffler would probably have more impact on FI than NA.

although it is possible, it will require some fabrication on your behalf - nothing too big, but still...
I wanted to keep my factory box too, just didnt have the patience to figure it out... DASC kit installation manual, however, makes you take out the box.
DustenT, a long gone member of this site had actually tried it for me (pics were deleted unfortunatelly) on below 2 year old thread, and it did not pan out to well...

It could be something with the ti (the elbow by the TB is different) or maybe the ASC butterfly, but here's a pix of Shawn setting on his Z3.

I'll ask Jim once he calls me. I also wanna ask about the plug for the resonator since it looks like it gotta go to be able to reroute once of the coolant hoses.

I think you may be able to pull it off, however you will loose the ASC+T system...

I just did a follow up with Jim Goodroe at DA and he said the machine shop has some backlog so they haven't got time to work on the parts for my kit yet... He said it probably won't be ready to be shipped out until the end of next week...
I asked him about the Z3 & the stock airbox and he said that on the Z3 the DASC can retain the stock airbox as well as the ASC butterfly.

Your one lucky dude....I can't believe Jim had one hiding in the back:biggrin:
I say you ditch the stock airbox :) It'll be stealth enough at the line with an intake, who cares if it's stealth after you leave 'em in your dust :)
