I have an opportunity to purcahse a 1997 318ti with somewhat high mileage, for what appears to be a pretty reasonble price from a private party seller, and am seriously considering it. Here are the specifics on the car:

Base model
Automatic transmission
Alloy wheels
Leather seats
Silver
107K miles
Some minor interior blemishes (door panel crack)
Smoker's car
Asking price - $8,200

Does anyone have any advice on these two questions --

1. Would you have any hesitation about purchasing a car like this (with a small 4-cylinder engine and auto trans) with 107K miles? If I purchased the car, I'd want to keep it for at least 5 years or so.

2. Does an asking price of ~$8,000 seem reasonable for a 97 Base ti with 107K, in average to good condition?

Thanks in advance.

Doesn't sound like that good of a deal to me unless:
1) You can't/won't drive stick
2) You smoke too
3) You like getting dusted by everything else on the road.

Seriously, I know I've seen better deals. Take your time, wait for a great one since you'll have it for 5 years. I did and I don't regret.
