The rim size 17 x 7.5 will work. You need to make sure bolt pattern is 5x 120mm. The proper offset for an aftermarket wheel should be in the 35-40 range. Any tire/wheel shop (real bricks & mortar, or internet should be able to give you advice on any particular wheels once you've narrowed your selection to ones that you may actually buy.
But knowing the lug configuration and offset will help you narrow the search pretty quickly.
Fortunately the BMW wheel spec's are unique to the point that most of the obscenely UGLY wheels won't fit anyway. In my opinion, thats a plus. I hate to see a beautiful car ruined by UGLY wheels. Tirerack.com is an example of a great website for picking quality wheels at just about the best prices I've seen, and the interactive site gives you a good look at what your car will look like with them. Good Luck!
