17 inch rims

im thinking of putting on 17 inch rims on my ti. I currently have 225/50-16 on, but am looking at a set of 215-45-17. Will these fit alright? My car has been lowerred (i cant remember how much) but the tires are not rubbing with the current setup. As well, how much performance will i be compromising by switchin to the skinnier rim?

I am currently running SSR GT1 17 X 8 wheels with 225/45/17 Bridgestone S03s. No rubbing or other problems. I have a Dinan stage II suspension and therefore I am also lowered.

Note: 215/45/17 tires are smaller than your factory tires and will cause a speedometer error. 225/45/17 are the correct size.
