I got some nice rims over the summer and was going to wait until my shocks wear out before I lower my car. After replacing my tierods the guys at the alignment shop told me my shocks were getting there...

Did a little shopping around and found http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KYB-GR-2-SHOCKS-SPRINGS-BMW-E36-318Ti-95-to-99_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116QQitemZ180211965449QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fParts Q5fAccessories

Do you guys know anything about this brand?

I don't know much about them, but I know other people are going to tell you to just spend the 100-200 more to get some legit bilstein/h&rs

Basically. Don't cut corners with BMW. And when something comes up, be prepared to hear,"you get what you paid for". Unless it's a set of Bilstein sport suspension kit on sale

I have never read anything good about GR2s. They are not a performance shock.

Once again you have no clue what your talking about.

GR-2s are great shocks, I ran them on my mustang. They are great shocks but not performance oriented. If you are just going for OEM ride quality, GR-2s will be perfectly fine.

I have bilstein touring on my car which is right in between the price on GR-2s and bilstein sport/HDs. I am very happy with them.

bottom line, if you are on a budget and don't really need performance handling, just go ahead and buy the GR-2s

It all depends on which model ti you have... KYB's are for Active models and not For Sport Models... Do a search for them on other sites and you'll see that they all say NOT For "Sport Tuned" or "Sport Model". If you have a Sport Pckg then you need to go to Monroe Shock/Struts labeled Sport, They'll be a replacement for stock and not a performance upgrade. The Monroe's on ebay are regular ones not the sport ones, so I would suggest you do a search on your local shops, but I do know that you can order them from Pep-boys for almost the same price they have them on ebay. Now this is again if you have a Sport Pckg Model, if you're looking for Performance go with Blistein Sport/HD... or even the Touring will offer you better handling.

thanks for the explanation. I definitely want to do this replacement with a performance mentality in mind...
