Just some background information first. My car is a 95' 318ti with the grey rocker panels. I recommend that instead of painting the rockers or stripping the paint that you install sideskirts. The whole job cost me a total of $300. That includes $200 for a set of used 328 skirts, $57 in clips, $40 for mounting templates. It looks 10x better and is well worth the money.
Once you get all the required parts (go to your BMW dealer they can look up all the right clips) installing them is fairly simple. Make sure you have a good sheet metal drill bit, it's not required but really helps things go smoothly. Just slap the plastic mounting templates onto the car. They line up with the jack stand holes and tape them on. It has all the drill points clearly marked for both a two and foor door (The ti uses 4 door). To drill the holes you will need to lift the car and remove the rear wheel. After drilling all the holes you pop in all the green clips. Make sure you put some kind of grease around the holes to prevent corrosion. I noticed it was very hard to press the white clips into the green ones (Not a good description I know, but you'll see if you do it), I used a heat gun to soften up the material and they went in great.
If anyone is thinking about doing this themselves feel free to email me. I tried to research before I did it but couldn't find much.
