View Full Version : Rear Shock Mount Info
I ordered and installed a set of (supposedly) improved E46 rear shock mounts for my ti when I did the rear suspension up-grade.
They failed in 25 miles. Everything was new, including the Bilstein shocks.
I strongly suggest that you by-pass the bull$hit and get a set from BMP or something.
The rear mount stiffener plates are still reccomended.

wow!...I've heard of a 4k failure...think it was a defective set? I never thought factory parts would be so shoddy.Think is might be psycological?
The mounts and shocks were both brand new.
I had a total of 75 miles on the car with the new shocks, and part of that was with the original rear shock mounts.
I changed them not because they were bad, but because the E46 mounts were supposed to be better.
I have since put about 100 miles on the car with the BMP rear mounts, and no problems at all.
FYI the shocks are Bilsteins, not some crappy brand. I doubt they are the culprit...
Oh well. Live and learn.

I don't know. Many, many people have used the E46 RSMs with no problem. I think it was a fluke that you had problems.

I couldn't find the BMP RSMs on their site, but I know that ground control makes some awesome billet aluminum ones for $1xx
fyi: strongest OEM RSMs that fit are e46 M3 cabrio. mmm. beefy.
