Shifting to 2nd gear

Hello, great info on this site.

I've had my '97 318ti automatic (70k) for about 2 months now and I love it.

One thing makes me nervous though. When the engine is cold, it really winds out before shifting to 2nd gear. After about 5 minutes on the road though everything begins to shift really smooth.

From what I've read in the manual it almost feels like it is in "sport" mode, but I am in "drive".

I had the dealer I bought it from look at it (not a bmw dealer). They say it is normal.

Have you had the transmission oil changed?a good type of trans oil flush is BG type flushing.dropping the panand the filter only at most removes 4 qts. on ave most transmissions hold 10 to 12 qts, so it would make sense to have it flushed
