Poor 17 year old needs a new engine! ahh!

SSoooo my boyfriend once again screwed up his lovley 318ti and almost brought himself to tears once again over his car that he loves more than he loves me. :( He got a hole in his radiator hose and it leaked out at a friends house. Our friend patched it up so it would last till we got home, but we forgot to add water to the radiator. sooooo we over heated. and him being only 17.... and a very inexperenced driver, drove the car while it over heated until it wouldnt start up again. His father says he needs a whole new engine. but i think he just needs a block. BUT anyways... all the engines ive seen around the net for a ti have been like 3,000 or so dollars. i was wondering if you guys new any good sites or places to find cheap, but good, engines. thanks alot. oh.. his bimmer is a 96' 318ti too. if that helps you with what you know and can tell me :D ill post pics of it someday.. :lol:

ugh, probably cracked the block and head from the sounds of it. get a used motor. they are costly. check the for sale items...there might be something. it doesnt sound like the old one would be too salvageable since he still drove on it when it was overheating...but i might be wrong.

It would be nice if someone was doing a transplant to a 6 cylinder and needed to get rid of the 4-banger cheap. Would there be any insurance coverage? Maybe an option would be to put a 2.5 or 2.8 into it.

I dunno what wrong with his engine. since he is just a 17 year old kid working for 5 dolla and some an hour.. i guess he is thinking about a chevy engine for the time being until he can afford a nice M3 engine. *shrug* thanks for sendin me replies though! :P and to my last reply, he doesnt REALLY love his car more than me... he just loves it alot. i think. anyways, we are just teenagers does it really matter at this point? :P
