Secondary Air Pump

Just found out, the secondary air pump on my 98 sport m-badge must be replaced...does $600 sound about right for parts/labor...and does it really have to be replaced???? any suggestions, would be great!

Didn't they tell you reason for the sec air needing replacement ,If the top poped open use machine screws i did think they were 10/32"s just long enough too tight it up it was quite load,
