So i have yet to find a good solid under hood pic of a stock intake. For some reason mine is incomplete (or so it seems.) YES i did concentrate on a m3 tranny swap before even making it a dd...but it was an opportunistic event that has been completed  Anyway guys is this thing incomplete or whats the deal....

also tried looking in real oem to no avail

You need a new intake. That thing looks like it's broken or been hacked. I have a complete M44 intake with the foam tube that runs over the fan to the passenger healight as well as the shroud that the tube sits in. LMK if you want it, I'll sell it for cheap.

BTW, I wouldn't be suprised if your MAF is damaged and your throttle body is all gunked up from sucking in unfiltered air through that hole.

I wouldn't be surprised either. PM'd

MAF might be cuz my idle is insanely stupid....anyone got one to help an injured TI?

I thought I had a spare MAF, but I remembered I sold it to Marv17 a few months ago. Anyway, here's what i have, everything you need to install the upgraded M44 intake setup:

As you could see, it's all there. No damage or cracks, the foam tube is in perfect condition with no splits or tears. I'll include the AUX fan for a little extra.

Edit; I cleaned it up and took better pics.

No worries, just LMK when you're ready. Thanks for compliment on the lawn, it's usually greener but we're in the middle of a drought and trying to conserve water a little:wink:

does anyone know what part number 4 does(resonator box)? is it completely necessary? i'm just gonna fog my intake and hope for the best...maybe until i can afford the stock everything.

If you're just gonna fix your old one, you should tape over the hole that the resonator box attaches to. Don't use that hole to fog the airbox because it lets in unfiltered air.

that's prolly what i'm gonna do...but out of curiosity i wanted to know if that resonator box was completely necessary. or what it's for

cooljess76

I'm not sure. I wouldn't imagine it's 100% necessary since you've been running without it.

i blocked my resonator off, all it does is "quiet" the intake, its completely fine to remove

nice, resonator to be blocked to today and fogged air box should be ready soon, maybe this will help my crazy idle issues....prolly not though

All a resonator box does is quiets the engine noise that is emitted through the throttle body and out the intake. Not necessary unless you want your ride to be quiet. At the same time, since it is part of the intake, it could technically be considered to be an emissions device depending on what state you live in (Mainly a note for California residents).

Also, That is one bitchin' lawn. At my complex, we have cement sidewalks, dirt patches with pitiful plants, and asphalt. Lots and lots of asphalt. I wish I had a house with a lawn...:frown:

actually an oil change helped my idle out, GO FIGURE!

I filled the hole where the resonator was with with Bondo and sanded it smooth before repainting and Fogging the box. At least it looks 100% better without all the unnecessary plastic between the radiator and engine

shoulda done that...but i didn't and don't have the skills to do it
