yeah, i'm well aware of that...are there any specific problems with these cars...like with the m50 and the water pumps, etc.??

...i've heard something about the profile gaskets on these cars...something about if they go bad, supposedly they let all the anti freeze out or something......

I believe the profile gasket was a problem on the M42 but corrected long before the 1995 ti went into production. M44s did not have that problem.

There are some known problems.
1995-1997? had tape on the B pillars that peeled.
The fix was to remove it or paint it black.

The HVAC temp control sometmes go.
Either a loose cable or bypass valve.

Some of us had transmisson problems.
Jumping out of gear. Most have had them fixed under warranty so my guess if it hasn't happened yet, they are good to go.

There really aren;t any blatant problems with these cars.
No more or less than any other E36.

I have the black tape on my '98 as well. Perhaps just the sports continued to use it??? BTW it's not peeling (yet).

I've been applying a quality wax (like zymol) to the B-pillar tape since my car was new ~6 years ago. If you use a qualty wax that does not leave a residue, there is no discoloration and it seems to keep the tape from peeling. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!! :)
