View Full Version : Solid to Vented brakes
Hey guys, today I just finish my solid to vented brake upgrade. While I was in there I notice the calipers seemed to be the same. Both Calipers' dimensions were the same..what I ended up doing is just using the vented rotors, carrier for the vented rotor, and the stock caliper(from the solid rotor set-up)..
Just wondering if anyone else have done this??

I think the calipers are the same, just the carrier is different, hope you didn't spend too much extra getting the calipers

Calipers prior to 4/98 are the same part number as after 4/98.
So, same part.
I guess I misread that I need the calipers too when upgrading.
Thanks for confirming they are the same. anyone need a set of calipers?

Thanks for confirming they are the same. anyone need a set of calipers? You should rebuild them and hold onto them.
Then the next time you need rebuilt calipers you will have a set on hand.
I wonder if they were different at one time though?
Im actually thinking of putting the other caliper because my brakes look funny with a bright silver carrier and a very dark, dirty caliper..
btw how much are you suppose to torque the line to the caliper?
thanks

I basically used 286mm rotors with the wider carrier. both are from a 325i/328i e36. I used the same caliper I had on my car..hope that helps..
