Possible to swap 96 328 motor into 97 Ti

I just blew the motor on my 97 Ti and I found a M52 from a 96 328i. The seller only has the motor. Will I be able to use this going backwards from OBDII to OBDI? Would this work if i source another ECU and EWS from another 3 series, or does it have to be from the same car? Any info. would help. Thanks.

The M52 is an OBDII motor, so no worries there... As long as you get a matching set of EWS / ECU / Key from any OBDII e36 6 cyl car you should be ok...

Just buy the DME and have it aligned to the car.
