quick question for ya..LSD content?

i cleaned it off and the #s are 345N488

and one more.. even though it is the wrong section.. what is the middle button to the left of the shifter for? 97 318i..

If it was an LSD the tag would read S345, the S means LSD. Not sure what that button is.

You'd be lucky to find a '96+ E36 with a LSD installed that wasn't an M3. Once BMW started putting ASC+T in the cars they stopped installing LSDs. I believe the LSD came as a part of the cold weather package on the earlier cars.

Also, you can't install a LSD from an E36 sedan/coupe on the ti.

hmm.. good info about the no-swap to ti thing. i was just hoping that i didnt need to buy an LSD for the racecar..LOL

so the ti uses what.. the e30 or z3?

Yeah, e30 or Z3 bolts right up pretty much. Check out Jess's post in this thread for the complete rundown on ti LSDs.

I believe the internal LSD part from the any e36 318 will bolt up to the non LSD internals of your diff.
