View Full Version : Brake Fluid - "pressure bleeders" and ASC+T

The Bently manual says that I should not use my trusty pressure bleeder to flush my brake fluid because my "new" old car has ASC.

Is there a safe pressure setting that I can use, do I have to take it to the dealer, or do I have to get someone out to pump the pedal?

Thanks in advance...

Ignore what Bentley says. I think it's more of a liability issue. Every place that has flushed my brakes used a vaccum system, includer the dealer.

Unless there was air or water in the ABS, I would not worry about it.

I use the old-school methods. Press, open bleeder, keep pedal on floor, tighten bleeder, repeat. (don't pump- this can cause foaming, and keep the master full)

The hot trick is to change fluid color when changing fluid- super blue and Motul for example (blue and gold color). This way you can see that all the old fluid is purged from the system (along with the water it absorbed over the last year).

I don't trust pressure bleeders. I have a large syrenge (SP?) I use to force fluid up to the master from the wheel (which works AWESOME by the way), but typically only on new brake systems. You don't want to force the 'crap' up to the master, although it is a lot easier to force air upwards, rather than down...
