Check Engine Light

My 318ti has 99k miles and it is a 1995. The yellow check engine light comes on when the car starts and is idling and also when it's stopped at a light. It runs good otherwise. Could this be from cheap gas? We just purchased this and from now on I'll be putting in Premium gas. Will this stop the light from coming on?

Probably will not fix it. Take it somewhere to get the computer code read. This will tell you the problem and you can decide to fix it or not.

There's a trick where you can turn the key to the ON position, but not crank the engine, then press the throttle to the floor five times fast. The computer then flashes out codes on the display. Maybe someone here will know what they mean.

i'm not sure what that code says, but i recommend just taking it somewhere to get it read. I have had a guy try and charge $40 just to read it, but found another to do it for free.
