Do any of you know of any custom hoods for the ti? I've looked and can't find anything.

I once found a carbon fiber hood, but by the time I got the money to buy it they had discontinued it due to a factory defect. I'd really like to spice up my hood a bit!

Look at mashaw.com for a carbon fiber hood. Personally I think a carbon fiber hood looks dumb unless your car is black. Esp if you get one with pins, lol. I'd only get it for the weight reduction on my car (red), and I'd paint it.

mashaw.com is a good start

cf can look lame, but good if done right

Holy crap mashaw is expensive. The carbon fiber hood I saw before was around $300.. their prices are just rediculous

Yeah I imagine, but carbon fiber is still carbon fiber.

Not really. A $300 carbon fiber hood will be pretty inferior in terms of weave, construction, and finish quality. You gotta pay to play.

MA Shaw rules. No cheap crap there...

Remember you have a 4-door sedan hood on your car when you get ready to buy...

yeah, i've already replaced the hood once, but it was with another stock one after an accident. I'm sure MA Shaw does rule, but its out of my price range.. at least for awhile.

Wait, and save your money for quality parts.

You are building a BMW, not a Honda...

I thought about painting the hood with the exception of possibly a stripe.

Leaving the entire hood unpainted looks cheap, regardless of the quality of the hood: 'What happened, you did not have the money for paint after buying the hood??'

And, yes the reason for a caron or other composite hood is to save weight, or more importantly, properly distribute the weight.

but still, carbon fiber looks good if it is not too gaudy, also has to be on a certain color

Yes, agreed. On a black car where you don't notice the cf from a distance, but when you walk up to it you see it subtly, that looks good. Not every combination of black car/black weave will achieve this effect though.
