Hello, I'm Sylwia. I'm new to this board and just bought my first 318ti.

I'd say I've been a BMW fan for about 2 years now. I've loved ti's since I first saw them and always thought of them as that really cool car that I'll probably never get my hands on. Well I came accross some money a few months ago, and decided it was time to go BMW shopping. I looked all over the Seattle area and my search for the perfect, decent priced car seemed hopeless. Everything's too expensive in this area. So I broadened my search to e-bay and autotrader in other parts of the country. I was looking for an e36 325is, and keeping my eyes open for any awesome 318ti's I might find. After a few lost auctions, I finally found the perfect car in Dallas, TX...and it was my ti. I was very nervous about bidding, especially so far away, but I decided to go with it. My dad and boyfriend kept telling me that a 6 cylinder is the way to go, (my boyfriend being a huge e30 325is enthusiast). I kept telling them that even though that sounds great, I want a ti damn it! Well, I won the auction for $7100 which is still a much better deal than what I would have found in Seattle even after you count the cost to go pick it up.

So I bought a plane ticket to Dallas, and flew down to see my car in person for the first time! I was so nervous that it wasn't going to be like I expected. The dealership exclusively sells on-line and had only the best reviews. Although I found the auction with only 2 hours remaining, so I didn't have time for any inspections to be performed. I got picked up at the airport and the car was just perfect! It's all white, grey cloth interior in excellent shape, 76k miles, a 1996, everything works, great stereo, and generally amazing looking. I instantly knew that I had made the right decision once I hit the road and drove my car for the first time.

I drove 11 hours to Albuquerque to meet up with my boyfriend. His mom lives there so we got to spend some time getting things together before our big trip to Seattle. We headed out 2 days later and cruised to California. I was shocked at my gas milage! I was getting 35.6 mpg doing 87 with the cruise control set. I think I avereged about 34-36 mpg most of the time on the freeways. I was of course driving 75-95 mph. =)

It took a total of 2800 miles to get home. I drove through the deserts of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Then in California I drove through the Mojave, along the coast and all around San Fransisco. The best part was Hwy 1 just north of San Fransisco. It's so windy that you really can't go fast than 25 mph most of the time. The hwy goes along the coast in the mountains and it the most beautiful scenery ever. I felt like I was in a car commercial. =)

Now that I have my car home, I miss driving fast like I did through the desert! I feel that despite what people where telling me, I'm incredibly happy with my decision to buy my car. There were a lot of risks, and it all couldn't have gone better.

None frequent to my knowledge. Should we start recruiting?

Reminds me of the first few days I owned my Ti and thought I was God on wheels. Pulled up next to another Ti and just beamed at the girl behind the wheel, admiring our common car connection. She looked back in fear and revulsion of course, thinking I was a nut. So much for recruiting.

96cali- haha that happened to me too! The day I got my short shifter installed, I pulled up to a light, right next to a avus blue ti! It was super clean looking, I'm pretty sure it was club sport as well.

I rolled down my window and smiled, but she looked at me like I was crazy. I felt dumb, rolled up my window, and hid behind my tint. lol

I always nod and smile when I drive by another ti (which has only been three times that I've seen one actually being driven), but it seems the other drivers don't care to aknowledge me at all. As if there were a million other ti's driving around in Seattle!

Sounds like what we need is to all meet up in the same city, drive around, and smile, nod, and wave at each other, hahaha.

There's a Bavauto "Show&Shine" every year around October...actually here:
http://www.bavauto.com
go there and at the very bottom of the page are three lines of text links, there's a show&shine link that will tell you all about it for this year...it's really cool and best of all FREE! and they give prizes away (mostly bimmer stuff and gift certificates) and free barbecue. Some people actually come from far to attend this event. I met so many people and shared tips on cars and stuff.

also they have a "My BMW" photo contest so check that out too...
